Stylish and impregnable

December 2011 – New barracks have emerged on the site of the Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht. They will be home to the headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Army, as well as to some units of the Command Services Centres and the Defence Equipment Organisation. The steel security fencing that surrounds the barracks is hot-dip galvanised by Verzinkerij Wolvega.

No corrosion for Dalstrahiem

November 2011 – The ‘Dalstrahiem’ housing and shopping complex was recently completed in the centre of Surhuisterveen. The complex comprises 39 flats, a range of commercial accommodation and an underground car park. To prevent corrosion, the steel French balconies, gallery fencing and railings in the complex were treated using the Duplex Route: hot-dip galvanising by Verzinkerij Wolvega, followed by powder coating at Poedercoating Wolvega. The small steel parts were centrifuge-galvanised by Centrizink Wolvega.

Duplex Route for The Orient

October 2011 – The Orient is emerging in the centre of the Transvaal area of the Hague: 100 family homes and flats situated around three linked inner squares. The structure and the architecture of the project were inspired by the Oriental culture that is such a feature of the area. For example, on the outer walls of the buildings, there are more than 100 decorative pinnacles, each 3.5 metres tall, providing The Orient with its distinctive silhouette. The pinnacles, together with a range of decorative fencing components, were treated using the Duplex Route: hot-dip galvanising by Verzinkerij Wolvega, followed by powder coating at Poedercoating Wolvega.

Galvanised steel structure for new smith's premises

September 2011 – Traditional decorative smith work gives homes or business premises that stylish extra. Wrought-iron fencing, a chimney hood, a letter box or lighting are just some of the traditional products that improve the look of a building. Verzinkerij Wolvega hot-dip galvanised the steel structure for the new showroom and production hall of a traditional smith's. Centrizink Wolvega hot-dip galvanised the small steel parts.

Galvanized bread production lines for Pain Victoire

August 2011 – In Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, every morning the Pain Victoire bakery is a hive of activity. The bakery produces 2.7 million baguettes and Pullman loaves per day. The steel parts of ten bread production lines, in total approximately 350 tons of steel, were hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Wolvega.

Galvanized gate for caravan dealership

July 2011 – A caravan dealership usually has a range of new and used caravans in stock. The yard where all these caravans can be seen needs to be properly fenced off. To allow people into the yard and to close it at other times, a sturdy gate is the order of the day. This cantilevered steel sliding gate was hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Wolvega. The smaller steel components were hot-dip galvanized by Centrizink Wolvega.

Bike apple nominated for BTTV Trophy 2011

May 2011 – The Bike Apple, a bike shelter in the form of an apple, is the eye-catcher at the railway station in Alphen aan den Rijn. This unique steel construction is nominated for the BTTV Trophy 2011 in the Infra & Mobility category. This trophy will be presented during the Day of Hot-dip galvanising. The Bike Apple has different floors which are reached via straight and spiral steel staircases for which Staco has supplied the hot-dip galvanised perfo treads and pressed gratings. The bike racks are hot-dip galvanised by Verzinkerij Kampen and the handles of the bike racks are powder coated by Poedercoating Hoogeveen.

Hot-dip galvanized fencing for tunnel in Ommen ring road

April 2011 – The Netherlands Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management has built a new motorway between the N34/N36 junction and the N48. The original N36 has been extended by nine kilometres for this ring road around Ommen. The route includes four viaducts, a bridge over the Ommerkanaal and a tunnel for cyclists and slow traffic at Witte Paal. The cycle path has been constructed at a higher level and fenced off to ensure the safety of the cyclists. The fencing was hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Wolvega and the small fastening components were centrifugally galvanized by Centrizink Wolvega.

Transport service to and from Wolvega

March 2011 – Verzinkerij Wolvega, Centrizink Wolvega and Poedercoating Wolvega have a modern transport fleet. They use it to pick up materials up to 3.5 metres wide and 25 m long from clients and, after completion of the conservation work, return it to the right place on time. Because more and more clients are turning to this transport service, the trucks have a fixed weekly itinerary that breaks down according to region.

New shed for AOC Terra

February 2011 – Practical education is important for the students at AOC Terra in Groningen. So the school in Slochteren has a site with 2 hectares of land and a range of agricultural machinery. A new shed has been built to house all the equipment. Verzinkerij Wolvega hot-dip galvanised the steel structure for the new shed.
